Bruce Forgrieve - Chairman & Founder
Silicon Valley veteran Bruce Forgrieve is Shout-It-Now’s founder. Bruce founded 6 technology start-ups in the USA over a period of 20 years, including 2 publicly held firms. Over the last decade he served as CFO and VP of Business Development at companies like Broadvision and Eloquent, and most recently as CEO of Playback Media and Spotlight Technology. Today Bruce lives between San Francisco and Cape Town, where his passion is preventing the spread of HIV and educating youth.
Dr Kathryn Pahl - Managing Director
Kathy is well known in the South African social development sector. She headed the social development department at Valkenberg Psychiatric hospital in Cape Town, was the CEO of Epilepsy South Africa, and more recently was a researcher within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town, where she investigated the outcomes and impact of HIV and AIDS programmes in South African schools. She has consulted with a number of national nonprofit organisations in areas of management and governance.
Vincent recently resigned as the CEO of Magna Carta Public Relations, the largest PR firm in Africa, to found Conversations, which offers a new approach to Marketing & PR. Previously he served as Director of Group Stakeholder Relations Management at Standard Bank, and prior to that he served as spokesman for South African State President Jacob Zuma. He has worked for Reuters Television, Worldwide Television News, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and the SABC. He also worked for Magna Carta Public Relations as Business Development Director, and was Senior Manager of Media Relations at Standard Bank.
Bill is the cofounder of Catalyst Consulting Team, a Silicon Valley-based management consulting firm providing executive development, teamwork and coaching for firms as diverse as Adobe, eBay, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Bill pioneered a collaborative online tool, GroupMind Express™, to augment conferencing and decision making with dispersed teams. He also designs and develops experiential simulations, from climbing peaks in New Zealand to half-day organisational simulations like BigPicture™.
Duncan James Westcott
Duncan has served as the CFO of Shout-It-Now and was previously the CEO at International Full Facility Services Limited (IFFS) based in Grand Bay, Mauritius, which provides food and accommodation outsourcing expertise and support services to clients in countries including Namibia, the DRC, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Between October 2008 and May 2010 Duncan was the finance manager and director for Aspen Global Mauritius; previously he was an audit partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a national staff partner (based in Johannesburg) and the Western Cape Transaction Services head partner (based in Cape Town).
Dr Thomas Coates
Tom is the director of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Program in Global Health, and is the Michael and Sue Steinberg Endowed Professor of Global AIDS Research at UCLA. He co-founded the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 1986 and directed the centre from 1991 to 2003. He was also the founding Executive Director of the UCSF AIDS Research Institute, which he led from 1996 to 2003. Tom is involved in many HIV and AIDS related projects around the world, including a 48-community clinical trial in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Thailand to determine the impact of strategies for de-stigmatising HIV.
